Thirteen CUKC competitors travelled to Sheffield for the 2026 BUCS Karate Championships, which attracted more than 700 entries. The opening day brought difficult kata draws and strong team kumite performances from both Cambridge squads.
Two medals for Cambridge
Charley advanced through a close decision and repechage to win bronze in Women’s Novice Kumite. Jasmine reached the Women’s Senior -61kg final without conceding a point and earned silver after a very close final bout.
For many members this was their first BUCS or large-scale competition. The captains thanked the drivers, supporters and Sensei Ken for his coaching throughout the weekend.
